About Me

When you’re not sure who you are, it’s a good thing to start writing an About Me page to force along the process of self-reflection, if only to fill up the empty white screen in front of you. So what should you know about me? I’m a twenty-something girl whose behaviour vacillates between that of a 5 year old and an 85 year old; I’ve never been one for adolescent drama. When I say girl, please don’t think pink. Instead think blue, green, black, gray and silver because those are my favourite colours.

I have more hobbies than I can count and definitely more than I can handle, but I hope each one in it’s own way is helping me get to where I’m supposed to be. Where that is, I’m not quite sure.

I love origami, assembling puzzles and 3D models. Somehow I think that means I should have gone into architecture, or the construction industry at least, but neither of those two things have happened so I content myself with filling every flat space in my room with assembled structures. If you were to gift me a construction set or anything I could assemble, that would make you my new best friend.

I’m camera shy but like taking pictures and despite having given up on my DSLR pursuit (does one-time use count?)I find I’m still having to carve out time for this pursuit out of my limited 24 hours already filled with the routine of a corporate drone. There really should be more hours in a day.

I love learning languages…by myself, reading complicated books very, I mean very slowly, with a dictionary, and wondering when they’ll invent a mentally downloadable dictionary. It’s a challenge- it takes time, patience and dedication and for that, I love it.

I would love to travel. Notice the use of the word “would”. So where have I travelled, you may ask. Let’s see, born in one country, raised in another but a citizen of a third country that I rarely ever visit and I’ve gone on vacation to 4 countries. Not as much travelling as I would have liked, but there’s always tomorrow.

Reading is a passion and I hope one day to have a home filled with all the books that I love lining the walls, a cosy window seat with a beautiful view and just enough room for a cup of tea and a pillow. Because I love reading, I hope to one day write as well as some of the authors I love, but I’ll content myself with poetry which doesn’t force itself, but pours forth when the time is write… I mean right.

I also write letters. Yes, in the modern day of emails, I take pen to paper and write to people. So if you ever need someone to talk to, drop me a virtual line and I’ll send you a real world address where you can get in touch and you can be sure of a hand-written reply.

My pillow is my first love and my mom the next, but only because she refuses to take my pillow’s place for fear of being cuddled to death.

Alzheimer’s runs in the family so this blog is my preemptive attempt to chronicle my life and all the things I love to do… before I forget…just in case.
